Social scheduling is one of the most common recurring costs in agency stacks, and one of the easiest to underestimate. Per-channel or per-seat pricing feels small at first, then grows with every new client. That's the situation the SocialBu deal on AppSumo is designed for.

This comparison is based on the SocialBu deal page and vendor documentation, read on 20 October 2026. We haven't run SocialBu with live client accounts. Prices are at the time of writing, so confirm them on the SocialBu deal page.

What SocialBu offers

According to the deal page, SocialBu covers social media scheduling, analytics, AI captions and an MCP integration. The MCP piece is worth a note for teams experimenting with AI assistants: MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a way for AI tools to connect to other software, so it may let you work with SocialBu through an assistant. Check the vendor's documentation for exactly what it supports.

The tiers

At the time of writing:

TierPriceSocial accountsPosts per monthOne-time cost per account
1$4910600$4.90
2$129251,500$5.16
3$27975See deal page$3.72
4$499150See deal page$3.33

The per-account column is our own arithmetic (price divided by accounts), included because it's the number that makes the comparison with monthly tools easy.

The post caps on Tiers 1 and 2 are worth checking against your actual volume. Six hundred posts a month across 10 accounts is 60 per account, roughly two a day. That's plenty for most small businesses, but an agency posting several times a day on several platforms per client could get close.

A 60-day refund window applied to AppSumo deals at the time of writing.

How monthly schedulers usually charge

Common alternatives include Buffer and Hootsuite. We haven't verified their current pricing for this article, and both have changed pricing models over time, so check their pricing pages directly. Broadly, monthly schedulers tend to charge either per connected channel or by plan tiers with seat and channel limits.

To compare fairly, work out your own numbers:

  1. Count the social accounts you manage today, and how many you expect in 12 months.
  2. Price that on your current or preferred monthly tool, using its live pricing page.
  3. Multiply by 12 to get an annual figure, and by 36 for a three-year view.
  4. Compare with the SocialBu tier that covers your account count.

For most agencies managing more than a handful of accounts, a one-time fee in the tens or low hundreds of dollars will compare favourably on cost within the first year. The question is what you give up.

What a price comparison misses

Platform changes

Social networks change their APIs and rules regularly. When they do, scheduling tools have to update quickly, or posts fail. Large, established schedulers have big teams for this. Before you move client accounts, look at SocialBu's recent reviews and changelog (if available) for how it handles platform changes.

Client-facing workflows

Agencies often need approval flows, client access or white-labelled reports. Check whether SocialBu's tiers include the approval and reporting features you rely on today. If your clients approve posts inside your current tool, that workflow has to survive the switch.

Team seats

The tier summary focuses on accounts and posts. Check how many team members each tier allows, because a cheap tier that only allows one login won't suit a team of three.

Vendor risk

"Lifetime" on AppSumo means the lifetime of the product. If SocialBu changed direction, you'd need to reconnect every client account to a new tool. That's annoying rather than catastrophic, since your content and the social accounts themselves stay yours. Still, keep your content calendar somewhere you control rather than only inside the scheduler.

When paying monthly is the better call

  • You manage only two or three accounts, and an existing free or cheap plan covers you.
  • Your clients require a specific, well-known tool, or you're contractually tied to one.
  • Your workflow relies on advanced approvals, listening or reporting features you can't confirm SocialBu offers.
  • Your team doesn't have the time to migrate right now. A migration done badly costs more than a year of fees.

When the lifetime deal makes sense

  • You manage 10 or more accounts and per-channel fees are a real line item.
  • You're growing and want predictable costs as you add clients.
  • Your needs are mainly scheduling, basic analytics and AI-assisted captions.

A migration plan if you go ahead

  1. Buy the tier that fits your account count in 12 to 18 months.
  2. Connect your own brand accounts first and run them for two weeks.
  3. Move one client whose workflow is simple.
  4. Compare post success, analytics and team experience against your old tool.
  5. Decide well inside the 60-day window, then move the rest or request a refund.
